Cynthia Peterson, MAC, MA, LP, RPT-S
Cynthia Peterson is a Licensed Psychologist and Addiction Specialist for adolescents and adults and holds a national credential as a Registered Play Therapist to specifically work with young children in directive, non-directive and sand tray play therapy. She has over 18 years of experience working diverse populations of children, adolescents and adults in a variety of mental health settings. Her clinical specialties include trauma, grief/loss, addiction/chemical health, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, panic, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, sleep issues, work concerns, stress management, life transition, or other relationship concerns including LGBT. Cynthia has extensive experience providing support for Military families and Active/Non Active Duty Members as well as other types of law enforcement. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma. She provides, individual, couples and group therapy including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Cynthia has widespread community experience as a critical incident stress debriefing responder assisting individuals, families and organizations that are victims of crime. Cynthia endorses a holistic strength based approach when individualizing treatment plans to the client’s needs. Cynthia is a board approved supervisor and provides supervision for those seeking licensure or certification. She is currently a part time adjunct clinical faculty member at Riverland and Century Community College.
